Star Racer

Three tracks. Five rivals. A career that saves.

Star Racer is a pod racer built around one decision you keep making: how long to hold the boost. Heat builds while you are on it, and if you let it run past the limit the engine flames out and you coast. Drifting is the other half — hold the air-brake through a hairpin and the release pays you a free boost, so the fast line and the safe line are rarely the same. Three hand-built tracks escalate the hazards: Dune Basin is wide and forgiving, Ice Vault slides and narrows across a bridge with no walls, and Ember Foundry adds pistons, geysers and a split path. Finish on the podium to unlock the next track, earn medals to unlock pods and parts that genuinely change how the pod handles, and race your own ghost in time trial. Best times, medals and your loadout are saved to your account.

How to play

  1. Your pod accelerates on its own — steer with the arrow keys, or A and D.
  2. Hold Shift to boost. Heat climbs while you hold it; past the limit the engine flames out and you lose the boost for a few seconds, so lift early and let it cool.
  3. Hold Space going into a corner to air-brake and drift. Release at the apex for a free burst of speed.
  4. Walls, pistons and geysers cost hull. Run out and the pod breaks up and respawns at the last gate, losing you time.
  5. Finish on the podium to unlock the next track. Medals unlock pods and parts, and every best time is saved to your career.

Scoring

Your score comes from where you finish, how far under the par time you are, and the drift and clean-boost chains you string together along the way. Medals are awarded on race time — bronze, silver, gold and Space Platinum — and a medal adds a bonus on top. Each track carries a multiplier, so the same drive is worth more on Ice Vault than Dune Basin and more again on Ember Foundry.

Tips

  • Boost on the straights and lift before the heat bar turns red. A flame-out costs more time than the boost ever gained you.
  • Drift every hairpin you can. The release boost is free speed, and chaining releases is where the big scores come from.
  • The shortcut forks are always shorter than the line they skip — but Ember Foundry puts a piston in one of them.
  • Gold times usually need both: the shortcuts and a clean run with no wall contact.
  • Run time trial against your ghost to learn a track before you race it for a medal.
